The Manager provides results oriented, day-to-day management and leadership of manufacturing processes within some of the Corden Pharma Colorado production areas. The Manager is accountable to ensure that processes are efficiently transferred into manufacturing and that all manufacturing quantities and timelines are met with right first time execution. The Manager is responsible for oversight of continuous improvement programs within Operations and is accountable to define and meet targeted improvement in processes and technology. The Manager is responsible for maintaining department budgets to target, ensures that personnel in their areas of responsibility are adequately trained to meet right first time goal, and that regulatory compliance is achieved in health and safety, quality, environmental, and in human resources.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be

  • >>  Establishes and maintains strong, transparent and effective day to day working relationships between manufacturing, R&D, internal support, regulatory groups and CPC
  • >>  Evaluates employee performance; promotes and rewards high achievement and results oriented performance, establishes succession plans where necessary, targets developmental needs and assures training resources are available and utilized.
  • >>  Manages manufacturing KPI’s and establishes a high standard of performance to optimize, monitor, control and improve processes in their area. Achieves or exceeds performance in right first time process yield, cycle times and changeover times.
  • >>  Manages manufacturing by driving performance in the required safety and quality culture, achieving continuous improvement in our operational work technique/practices, establishing strong/efficient documentation systems and implementation and ownership of new, innovative equipment technologies that drive manufacturing forward.
  • >>  Manages the efficient technology transfer of processes from the laboratory into the manufacturing facilities. Ensures that manufacturing is represented early-on in the R&D process. Allocates the necessary resources to proactively address early stage processing and technology hurdles.
  • >>  Promotes a culture and sets goals to establish robust manufacturing processes and continuous process improvement that are consistent with the site strategy. Implements programs to plan, execute, review and improve manufacturing activities. Actively responds to and resolves operational, process, equipment and maintenance problems to prevent operational upsets.
  • >>  Plans and manages manufacturing activities and establishes priorities to ensure right first time documentation and execution, product quality, on-time deliveries, regulatory compliance and process optimization. Revises manufacturing schedules and priorities to meet changing business conditions.
  • >>  Actively collaborates with other manufacturing areas and promotes cross-functionality where needed and/or where practical.
  • >>  Develops annual operating budget for approval and manages and maintains assigned functional area within budget targets.
  • >>  Investigates and resolves employee issues and complaints in area of responsibility.
  • >>  Implements and maintains adherence to all company policies concerning environmental, health, safety, quality and human resources.


Manages operational staff and directs activities of technical (or other support) staff in the assigned areas for commercial and developmental manufacturing. Responsible for developing, controlling and adhering to budget targets. Substantial input into the capital spending budget, planning and vision for assigned area. Provides routine input into standard cost structure for products.

Minimum of a BS in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering; non-technical degree with applicable experience in a manufacturing/production environment may be considered equivalent. Minimum of 7 years of experience in a pharmaceutical or fine chemicals manufacturing environment, with an appropriate combination of technical and/or operational management assignments.


The Manager possesses the ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. They respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. They write technical reports and instructions and effectively present information to customers, management and groups of employees. They possess the ability to present verbal instructions and explanations on technical and business issues.


Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to tasks such as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, factor analysis, etc.


Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
